SILUTE ROTARY CLUB

Silute Rotary club was
founded by the initiative group, which members were Vladas Sturys, Antanas Cepys
and Zigmantas Doksas on the 22nd
of January 1991. Zigmantas Doksas was elected as the first president of
the club. The club was registered in the Silute district municipality on the 9th
of December 1991. The inauguration of the Silute Rotary club took place on the
24th of September 1994.
Today there are 33 members in the club, who meet together every Monday at 5 p.m.
in the “Nemunas” hotel (Lietuvininku str. 70, LT –5730 Silute). There are
four committees in the club: Youth programmes and culture committee (Pranas
Avizinis), Information and society relations committee (Antanas Balvocius),
Foreign relations committee (Vladas Sturys), Advance in profession committee
(Vytas Auskalnis). In 2001/2002 a president of the Silute Rotary club is Eugenijus
Simasius, vicepresident is business man Stasys
Timinskas, secretary – Darius
Balodis. Silutės Rotary club has many beautiful and sensible traditions
such as celabration of the club members birthdays, participation in the Rotary
celebrations together with the families. The meetings of the club are varied by
lectures and guests. The working places of the members are visited. Many songs
are sung on many official and
unofficial occasions. The best singers in the Silute Rotary club are its first
president Zigmantas Doksas and Bronislovas Sutkaitis. The song of the Silute
Rotary club is “Augo kieme klevelis” (“The maple grew in the yard”).
Even fastidious foreign guests applaud to the tenor of the past president
Zigmantas Doksas.
